Abstract

The litany of the conventional intepretation reaches a more intense and focused pitch with regard to Indian software. Indian software exports reportedly reached US$ 329 million in 1993–4, up from $259.7 million in the previous year,1 and growing from $26 million in 1985. Although estimates of India's domestic sales of packaged software in 1994 ($495 million) represented only 0.6 percent of the world market in that year,2 the $322.5 million in software exports in 1993–4 were part of only $22 billion in exports from India.
