Abstract
The case of Moldova provides an example of three simultaneous, strong national revivals. Yet, the resulting national conflict between the Moldovans and the Slays escalated into extensive warfare while the Moldovan-Gagauz conflict remained much less intensive. This chapter examines the reasons why these two conflicts developed so differently.
