Abstract
This book has been about the relationship between the changes in poverty and inequality in Mexico, and the process of economic liberalization. The central hypothesis we tried to test is that although the policies may have achieved their objectives at the macroeconomic level, they may have also provided better opportunities to the individuals that were initially in the most advantageous position in the distribution, while shifting most of the costs involved in the process towards the disadvantaged.
