Abstract
Children’s games, the ones children create for themselves, can often be an indicator of passions they might pursue in the future. That seems to be true in my case. My mother often told the story that, as a child, I would “play school “ and be the teacher, gathering both the willing and unwilling into my classroom. I don’t recall these early experiences, but her recounting of them helped me to appreciate that I may have always believed that a teacher’s role was to help a student learn, and that there was great fulfillment for the teacher in this role.
