Food at work

Abstract

School dinners are a political, educational and dietary “hot potato.” Should they be free for all pupils, or should some pay? What should or should not be on the menu? Are school meals about health education? Should schools ban fizzy drinks? Or chips? What role should schools play in dietary literacy? And what of the religious minefield that food represents? Worse, what of galloping allergies and the shadow of compensation lawyers who are eager to sue the organization for not serving nut-free num-nums at a Christmas party? All too hot to handle? Let the little darlings bring their own food.
