Abstract
This study aims to analyze the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on the ability to innovate of Luxembourgish firms. On the one hand, ICT can be viewed as an accelerator of technological and organizational innovations; on the other hand, ICT is itself changing fast and in a complex relationship with innovation activities and results. Indeed, ICT can speed up the diffusion of information, favor networking among firms, reduce geographic limitations and increase efficiency in communication. In addition, ICT provides a platform for scientific and technological innovation and organizational changes. Knowledge transfer and sharing made possible through networks in real time increase scientific and technological innovation capacities and reinforce new organizational practices and arrangements such as e-management, e-business and e-commerce. These practices are both organizational innovations in themselves and drivers for improving firms’ performance.
