Abstract
Amel Karboul works with an executive charged with managing a global workforce in a software company. The coachee requests help with intercultural competencies, managing international leadership teams, and dealing with a strategic transformation in the organization. The coach discovers that her client’s lack of experience can’t be substituted for by coaching, that current success makes it diffi cult for him and his team to prepare for change, and that constant pressure prevents the coachee from taking time to stop and reflect. While some of the coach’s approaches work, with others she reaches an impasse. The coach also struggles with her dual role as coach and consultant.
