Abstract

In Thomas Hellwig’s case, one of the participants in a group coaching engagement brings loaded personal emotional baggage to the coaching session. The other participants are surprised by the level of personal disclosure and emotional engagement of their colleague. The coach is concerned with the effect the behavior of the participant can have on other members of the coaching group. He also raises the challenges of transference and possible counter-transference in this coaching exercise.
