Abstract
The vast continent of Africa is indeed a complex geophysical space. The discussion in previous chapters of this book confirms this statement. The evolution of Africa into its contemporary subdivision of 53 countries and one ‘non-self governing territory’1 tends to augment the variations whilst identifying challenges for coordination and cooperation on a trans-continental scale (Maharajh 2008).
