Abstract
Inherent in the historical fact of colonialism has been the fact of diaspora. The human migration resulting from colonialism has flowed in all directions. People have fled from civil wars (pre- and post-independence), become internally or externally displaced due to violence or unjust laws, been ousted from their homelands for various reasons, and have sought out the wealthier imperial seat to escape the poverty and violence caused in the first place by colonial plundering of resources and rending of indigenous societies.
