Abstract
This chapter discusses the global expansion of capitalism, inequality and social movements, using Iran as a case study.1 In other words, it explains how global capitalism and inequality affect social movements in contemporary Iran. The focus is, however, on the uprising and dynamics of the reform movement of Iran which emerged in the 1990s and is still in progress. In order to explore this, I base my arguments on the transformed aspects of the Iranian social structure and the shift in sociopolitical attitudes of the Iranians since late 1980s.
