Abstract
If this book intends to argue one thing, it is that it pays off to frame a problem out of different theoretical angles. The problem addressed in this book is the supposedly missing virtues and values in public administration. The theoretical perspectives come from classical and modern Philosophy, institutional reasoning, Economics, Social Psychology, Political and Organizational Science. Public Administration as an interdisciplinary subject is based on these disciplines and we think it can learn a lot from them. At the same time, it is within the nature of Public Administration that it tries to combine theory and praxis and for that reason the last chapters in this book addressed the actual developments going on in the field of public administration in Central and East European, Latin American and African countries, and two case studies on an international organization (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development; OECD) and a well-developed country (Japan).
