Abstract

The core concern of this chapter is in seeking to understand the discursive dynamics of industry-led Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the mining industry. In this chapter, I consider CSR as an emerging discourse that is both shaped by and, in turn, shapes the political economic context in which it operates to inform the practices, conditions, rules, and historical transformations of the business-society relationship in the mining industry.
