Abstract
The theme of this book has been empowering the voices of teacher-researchers in Asia to help them to better define for themselves what teaching and working in this diverse geographical area means. While the contributions may have demonstrated more diversity throughout Asia than commonality within and between contexts, perhaps this picture of variation among students, teachers, local classrooms, and national contexts is more illustrative of the reality of the Asian context (and likely other contexts) than is implied by Hofstede’s (1980) quantitative separation of nationalities according to different cultural attributes.
