In-Work Poverty among Immigrants

  • Chapter
Working Poverty in Europe

Part of the book series: Work and Welfare in Europe ((RECOWE))

Abstract

Being part of an underprivileged group, immigrant workers from outside the European Union are more likely to risk poverty than the general population. The following pages offer an exploration of the extent of their vulnerability and its causes in the EU as a whole, but in particular the cases of France, UK and Spain, three countries where immigrants are numerous. To this aim, data from the 2007 wave of the European Union Survey on Income and Living Conditions are analysed.
