Abstract

Negotiations on agricultural trade liberalization started formally in March 2000 at the Committee on Agriculture level. WTO members agreed on a timeframe that allowed members to table initial proposals up until the end of December 2000. They also agreed on a schedule of meetings for the first phase of negotiations (World Trade Organization Special Session of the Committee on Agriculture, 2000c).
