Abstract
The 2010 General Election saw a new phenomenon, which defined the election campaign and is likely to play a significant role in future election campaigns. The introduction of the debates between the three main party leaders, over the final three weeks of the campaign, gave millions of voters the chance to see the possible Prime Ministers up close and personal.
