Abstract
Given the need in many Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries to build a functioning supply infrastructure for water and wastewater as well as waste management, green business holds a great deal of promise in this region. Large foreign companies are building up capacity, completely rebuilding basic infrastructure using the most up-to-date technology. They are also working with local players to make buildings more energy efficient. European renewable energy targets, generous feed-in tariffs, and concerns about energy supply mean countries and governments are investing heavily in renewable energy. Most countries, however, are struggling to reach EU targets. While e-mobility is still largely in its infancy, first pilot projects are being started and preparations are being rolled-out in the Czech Republic and in Austria.
