Abstract

A standing-back moment is when we pause and take stock. It might be a time when we look to see a wider perspective. We might be viewing the events of the day against a longer timescale. Standing back might include looking at dilemmas from the perspectives of different people. Standing back can be a time to observe whether our personal drive is taking us in a positive or a dangerous direction. Standing back can also be about pausing, taking breath and letting our unconscious do the thinking. It can include observing our emotional reactions to different situations and using that input as valuable data.
