Abstract
This chapter together with Chapter 5 constitute a new section in this book. After reviewing some background to research and practice in the field of child second language learning and pedagogy, these two chapters take a close look at currently popular research approaches and processes to explore what applications arise for practitioners. Chapter 4 takes a macro-perspective via navigating through a broad range of research according to different methodological traditions, while Chapter 5 takes a micro-perspective, focussing on a handful of key case studies associated with the different traditions discussed in Chapter 4. Each study in Chapter 5 is described fully, including research procedures, research questions, outcomes, limitations and practical implications.
