Efficiency Drivers and Constraints: Empirical Findings

  • Chapter
Book cover Microfinance and Public Policy

Abstract

This chapter shows the effect of several key variables on the financial and social performance of 45 MFIs. The purpose is to determine the exogenous or endogenous nature of those variables. Financial performance is measured by financial self-sufficiency and operational self-sufficiency, and social performance is measured by a set of indicators commonly used in the MicroBanking Bulletin (MBB) and the MIX (Microfinance Information exchange).
