Abstract
The social quality of work — defined as the balance between job demands and autonomy combined with a co-operative work atmosphere — is closely linked to both personal well-being and the productivity of organizations. A tool that measures and evaluates social quality in the workplace should therefore be interesting to European employees and employers alike. Because the social quality of work is likely to vary between countries, industries and workplaces, comparative information may also help organizations and individual workers make relevant improvements.
