Abstract
We (Jean Ziegler, Sally-Anne Way and Christophe Golay) carried out a mission to the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) from 3 to 12 July 2003.1 The mission was welcomed by the Government of Israel in a letter dated 23 May 2003. The mission was carried out during a moment of hope when negotiations for the ‘road map’ were making progress and the ceasefire was holding. The road map process, an outline for peace in which the United Nations has played a vital role as a participant in the Quartet, holed the promise of bringing an end to the terrible suffering of both Israelis and Palestinians.
