Abstract

Having finally gained their independence in late 1917, it seemed that the Finns had plenty of reasons to fear for their future. Internal strife soon led to most bloody civil war, hyper-in?ation, and monetary chaos. The need for fast adaptation to new circumstances was glaringly evident.
