Abstract
In this chapter we analyze the effects of NATO partnerships in the European rim, to the south (Balkans) and to the east (Central Europe and beyond). The states included are: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro in the Balkans, and Moldova, Armenia, Azerbadijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and the Ukraine in the Caucausus and Central Asia.
