Abstract

In the second chapter of this book the differences between social movements and social movement organizations have been highlighted, as well as the analytical distinction between civil society as associational life, civil society as ‘the good society’ and civil society as the public sphere. Seen from these theoretical points of view, this chapter assesses social (environmental) movement organizations at the EU level, and (the green, European) civil society as associational life.
