Abstract
This chapter aims at exploring the emerging forms of participation of NGOs in the World Trade Organization (WTO), based on the example of the relations between the environmental movement and the WTO. Although most suggestions concerning how to democratize global governance have not yet seen the light of day in practice, numerous reforms and attempts have been undertaken. Therefore, it is important to explore the response by practitioners to the articulated criticism of lacking accountability, transparency, and representation directed at international organizations in general, and the WTO in particular.
