Nuclear Power – The European Dimension

  • Chapter
Nuclear or Not?

Part of the book series: Energy, Climate and the Environment Series ((ECE))

Abstract

The European Union has three pillars of its energy policy, environmental protection, security of supply and market liberalisation. Currently, each of these factors are under pressure due to high oil and gas prices, increasing concerns over the consequences of climate change and indications that CO2 emissions reduction targets will not be met and a growing reliance on imported energy.
