Abstract

In the modern interconnected business world, big and small firms strive for efficiency and success over their domestic and foreign rivals. The evolution of modern information and communication technologies and the political democratization in numerous nations has made the marketplace more competitive, albeit with an increasing number of opportunities due the opening of many country-markets. Indeed, globalization presents countervailing forces whereby big global markets and regional/country differences counteract with one another, making the ‘rules of the game’ for the modern firm much more complex than in the past.
