Abstract
A Colony, with representative government, consisting of a group of 360 small islands (about 20 inhabited), 580 miles east of North Carolina and 677 miles from New York, noted for its climate and scenery ; a favourite winter resort for Americans, and now an important British and American naval and air base. The civil population (i.e. excluding British and American military, naval and air force personnel) at December, 1944, was estimated at 33,925.
