Abstract
Considerations of responsible corporate practice have evolved over considerable periods of time, often in response to corporate failure or crisis. In so doing, developed countries have established complex laws, regulations and institutions, leading to a culture of compliance concerning the management of the firm. In parallel, globalisation and the need to be responsive to continuous change have increased the likelihood of acquisition, merger and joint venture occurring as a dominant form of organisation design (Iskander and Chamlou, 2000).
