Abstract

In this and the next chapter I describe some of the most common intimacy games played by couples. While Chapter 9 focuses on ‘energising’ games, this one concentrates on ‘energy-draining’ games — the ones that cause most trouble in relationships. By describing them first, it is possible to identify those aspects of a relationship that constantly create problems and issues and stifle the happiness of the partners. By first doing this it is perhaps easier to appreciate how they could be transformed or ‘healed’. However, first, it is necessary to understand a little about the differences between these games.
