Abstract
What does a group need to come together, more leadership or more management? Management is about bringing order to complexity. Good management brings a degree of consistency to key dimensions like quality and profitability of services and products. An organization’s formal structure enacts management. Leadership, by contrast, is more about driving through and coping with change. Therefore, management and leadership are two distinctive systems of action. As stated, each has its own function and characteristic activities, and a complex organizational environment requires both to achieve success.
