Conclusion: Some Remarks on Future Research

  • Chapter
Education, Equality and Social Cohesion

Abstract

The analysis in this book remains provisional and incomplete, like most academic endeavours. We have set out some novel hypotheses which we think have important policy implications and find considerable support for them both from theory and in our empirical tests. However, there remains more research to be done to determine the multiple causations of social cohesion and to understand the mechanisms and processes through which education influences socially cohesive outcomes. The analysis here has involved a number of interconnected parts.
