Abstract

This book was inspired by the warm reception I received from a short essay I wrote in 2005 entitled, “Why Environmentalists Should Embrace Economics.” I would like to thank the dozens of people from around the world who sent me encouraging messages and convinced me that there was a need for a larger treatment of the issues raised in this piece.
