Abstract

In the introduction, I used the term “religious perspective” to analyze the unique window on the world that religion has to offer. All human beings need a philosophy, whether atheism or a religion, to give meaning to their lives, and it seems that any religion has the potential to make life meaningful for its adherents. I used the conversion career approach to analyze why people become and remain religiously active.

To have a conversion experience is nothing much. The real point is to be able to keep on taking it seriously; to retain a sense of its plausibility. This is where the religious community comes in.
