Abstract
Having been an United States Immigration Judge for eight and a half years, I am no stranger to violence against women. I vividly remember a day in August of 1989 spent observing as part of my training as a new judge. The scene was the Immigration Court in the de- tention facility at 201 Varrick Street in New York City.
