Abstract
The Religious Right movement has had a significant impact on public policy and political dialogue in the United States. The backlash against women’s rights and the political efforts to un- dermine the progress that women have made in the United States are rooted in the Religious Right movement and its political manifestation of fundamentalism.
This chapter is an edited version of the speech given at the Conference on Religious Fundamentalisms and the Human Rights of Women at the George Washington University Law School on May 19, 1998. Footnotes have been added.
