Abstract
The doctrine of justification is at the basis of Luther’s ecclesiology. Luther’s deliberation of the essence of the church is bound to the concept of faith in the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ, in other words, humanitas Christi. The visible character of the church is grounded in Christ’s kingdom, namely, regnum carnis Christi (kingdom of Christ’s flesh), which is also invisible.
