Abstract
Colorado is located in the Mountain region of the United States. Colorado has a population of 4.9 million people, making it the twenty-ninth least populous state in 2007. The state’s population increased by 560,254 people from 2000 to 2007, and is projected to increase to 5.5 million by 2025. This 0.7% projected annual growth rate is below the national average of 0.8%. From 2006 to 2007 the state’s population grew by 2.3%. Per capita personal income in Colorado was $41,019 in 2007, up from $39,587 in 2006. For 2007, this was $2,455 above the national average and the eleventh highest in the country. The state’s per capita income grew at a compound annual rate of 3.0% from 2000 to 2007, compared to 3.7% nationally.
