Abstract
Part I discussed arguments that economic restructuring undermined labour. Workers, it is suggested, suffer a geographical dispersal as capital mobility increases and a social dispersal as relations change between and within firms. Chapter 5 advocated a comparative, cross-sectoral investigation of these claims. This chapter begins this by looking at the auto industry.
