Abstract
The term “behavior” comes from “to be” (essence) and “to have” (contain). The foundation for explorations is based on the embodiment of sentient beings from the behavioral states: primal, organic, willful, humanoid, psychic, mythic and cosmic. These beings are aligned with levels of consciousness: instinct, impulse, intent, affect, influence, alteration and actualization. The embodiments are approached through orientation explorations set in elemental landscapes—earth, water, fire, air, sound, light and ether—in which actors engage in mirroring, transforming and partnering to unlock impulses. Collective explorations introduce text fragments, images and objects to further ignite transformative behavior. Journaling focuses on articulating personal response and/or creating a character based on a sentient being. Actor-generated explorations expand on previous explorations through partnered and small ensemble collaborations.
