Abstract
Through the animation of magic (to pretend, as if), explorations in behavioral states illuminate various essences and levels of consciousness that are set in diverse elemental landscapes. The actor emulates the behavior of sentient beings to unlock impulses and expand their artistic expression. Incorporation of Animal Work and Extended Voice technique encourages instinctive and unsculpted response. Primal (raw and uncensored), organic (fluid and changeable) and willful (driven and deliberate) states focus on inherent behavior and are closely aligned to animality. The humanoid state (curious and innocent) is transitional between animal and spirit natures and focuses on experience. Psychic (seductive and ingenious) and mythic (aberrant and unsettling) states entertain the imagination as expressed in the spirit realm. The cosmic state (infinite and omniscient) combines them all.
