Abstract
The focus of this chapter is to analyze the psychological state of the Korean group self in the Joseon dynasty in terms of the matrix of its relationships with selfobjects. Therefore, included in the analysis are (1) the selfobject functions of Joseon Jujahak in the early years of the Joseon dynasty, (2) its gradual failures in providing an empathic response to the selfobject needs in the late Joseon period, (3) the gradual disruption in the sense of the Korean group self, and (4) the continual attempts of the Korean group self to find substitutes for the weakened and fading selfobject Joseon Jujahak.
