Abstract
One tenth-century text, the Vita Barbatiani or the Life of Saint Barbatianus, is the focus of this chapter. The chapter discusses the history of the text, including its publication and the scholarly work addressing its origins, as well as the various problems of dating the Vita through both internal evidence and external contexts, and its likely connection to the monastery which bore his name.
