Abstract

The book’s purpose was to inspire a sense of wonder about the human capacity to create meaning in life. This chapter paves the way forward. Summaries of the stories shared in the previous chapters relate how oikophilia can expand our ability to interpret meaning-making practices while considering how these intersect with health, income, and educational disparities. Recognizing that disparities are partly spatially constructed and are therefore malleable, we can then move to intentionality, propelling action and rallying home mediators to imagine the role they can play in eliminating disparities and in helping foster healthy and connected communities. The book ends with elaborations on how scholars, educators, designers, policy makers, and advocates can be intentional in shaping Culturally Enriched Communities and the right to home.
