Abstract

Colombia’s foreign relations with the Arab countries have not been relevant, but with Israel these have been rather close. There are neither significant players nor situations that would allow stating that they have played a predominant role in the country’s international policymaking process. Some analysts maintain that these relations are non-existent and that they merely consist of some diplomatic ties and poor trade-related exchanges. Colombia’s international policy is not autonomous, and it’s virtually limited to adhering to what the USA has to say. This policy has been common to recent Colombian presidents. And although they reiterate their interests in maintaining relations with the region, facts prove otherwise.
