Abstract
In this chapter, we look at how community-based or service learning projects reach beyond university programming into future projects, collaborations, and geographical borders. We share more narratives by people who took their learning beyond the walls of academia. We summarize why we believe this kind of programming—that starts with groups from the community working in collaboration with the university—is such an important tool for education and improving society. We reflect on our hopes for the future, which encourages the development of a community of people willing to expand their own approach to teaching and learning.
