Abstract
Woody Strode , an African-American athlete-turned-actor, appeared in two of the best-known film sequences of all time: as a gladiator duelling Spartacus in the 1960 epic and as a gunman in the opening scene of C’era una volta il West/ Once Upon a Time in the West (1968).
