Digital Storytelling

Abstract

Şimşek focuses on three digital storytelling (DS) workshops that she led in cooperation with the Women’s Coalition in Ankara before the 2015 General Elections. The aim of the workshops was to provide a record of narratives of women in the coalition and their long-term activism for women’s participation in Turkey. Fulfilling this objective was complicated as the narratives that emerged from the story circles were multifaceted. The digital stories from the coalition provided formed the basis from which Şimşek examines how the grand narratives of feminism could be challenged with digital stories, enabling more women to develop a sense of belonging in addition to how women’s blogging can be seen as an ally for digital stories for women’s well-being, building up a coalition of stories.
